About 30% of Lebanese On Facebook

Lebanon ranks fourth in Facebook user penetration among Arab countries,at 33, behind UAE, Kuwait and Jordan with 40, 34.3, 34.1 penetration rate respectively, according to a report published in July by the Dubai School of Government. The Arab Social Media Report, produced by the Dubai School of Government’s Governance and Innovation Program, analyses user trends across the Arab world. It compiles data on Facebook and Twitter use in all 22 Arab countries.

Lebanon had 36,500 new Facebook users in the first six months of 2012, totalling 1.4 million users.

The Arab world has a total of 45.2 million Facebook users at end of June, according to the Arab Social Media Report, from 37,390,837 at the beginning of the year (January 3, 2012), having increased by about 50% since the same time last year (29,845,871 in end June 2011). ·

 

Lebanon has the fifth highest LinkedIn penetration rate, at 4.3 percent. The UAE had the highest rate at 12.8 percent. Lebanon also has the sixth highest penetration rate on twitter, standing at 1.8 percent, with 77,700 users.
