Competing for Growth: How Can Lebanese Products Expand abroad

With the aim to highlight the specifications laid down by the Ministry of Agriculture on  packaging and cooling centers, a meeting was held in Tripoli, attended by the head of Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL) Nabil Itani, treasurer at the Chamber of Commerce in North, Tawfiq Aldabussi, representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture in addition to a crowd of packing centers owners and exporters in North Lebanon..

 Aldabussi stressed on the importance of the application of these specifications contributing to increase the competitiveness of Lebanese products exported in new markets and to develop knowledge and technical capacity for producers and exporters. He also emphasized that food safety has become today necessary in addition to the use of methods of production, packaging and transportation.

The Head of Directorate in North Lebanon, Nada Ziade reiterated the importance of increasing new specifications for packaging centers for hand hygiene, sanitation and construction, lighting. She also announced that a draft resolution on the packaging will be issued soon by the Ministry of Agriculture. Agricultural exports through Agri Plus amounted to $225 thousand tons till end of August, Itani said.
