The EU MED-ENEC Project Supports LCEC in Updating Lebanon’s NEEAP
Back in 2011, the Lebanese Government approved the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan for Lebanon (NEEAP 2011-2015). The NEEAP includes 14 initiatives related to energy efficiency and renewable energy. An evaluation of the Lebanese NEEAP is now due to measure the implementation of this national plan, to identify barriers that hindered the progress of some of the initiatives, and to set a new plan for the coming years (2015-2020).
Thanks to the support of the EU-funded project MED-ENEC, experts from the German company Ecofys will be conducting an evaluation of the current Lebanese NEEAP, setting a methodology for evaluation based on concrete indicators and milestones to measure progress. The MED-ENEC project will also assist in defining the steps needed to develop the new NEEAP 2015-2020 in accordance with the EU standards. LCEC and MED-ENEC will be conducting a national workshop gathering all the main players of the energy sector. The workshop will be conducted during November 2014.
