Green Diet Saves Environment. HOW?

If a diet helps lose weight by cutting calories, eating green, however, would positively impact the environment, besides keeping you in good shape.

Buying local produce reduces greenhouses and saves long-distant transport, agree environmental experts.

On one hand, eating less meat would be healthier, but on the other it’s good for the environment. Experts explain that the meat products are coming from animals which need antibiotics, waste elimination, causing damages to the environment.

Eating organic-grown produce also saves the environment, as the soil remains uninfected by chemicals coming from pesticides.

From Souk Tayyeb to Tawlet Ammik, organic farms have been recently growing in Lebanon. Others markets include the shop run by the Antonine monastery in Broummana, offering daily organic, locally-grown produce, such as vegetables, fruits and dairy. It’s worth mentioning that the whole fruits, vegetables and whole grains also result in less packaging.

If, however, healthy eating habits, has started to be adopted by Lebanese, more awareness about eating green has yet to rise.
