Lebanon on List of World’s Top 10 Markets for Solar Water Heaters in 2012
Just yesterday, the International Energy Agency (IEA) Solar Heating and Cooling Programme has officially launched its “IEA-SHC Solar Heat Worldwide- Markets and Contributions to the Energy Supply 2012- edition 2014”.
The report gives the most comprehensive overview on the global solar thermal market, and contains information about the status and development of the worldwide solar thermal market until 2012. LCEC is proud to announce that the report states that Lebanon is on the list of the World’s Top 10 Markets for solar water collectors in 2012 (relative figures in kWth per 1,000 inhabitants).
This achievement is due to the Lebanese Government’s strong commitment to the development of renewable energy in the country through the vision and efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Central Bank of Lebanon (BDL). The SWH market was also supported between 2009 and 2014 by an initiative funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and managed by UNDP Lebanon. LCEC is committed to continue this path towards achieving the slogan “A solar water heater for every house”.
