A Tree Massacre In Kfarselwan
Since the Kfarselwan Municipality has received a permit from the Ministry of Agriculture with the aim topruning trees and distributing the firewood to residents, a huge number of trees have been cut in Kfarselwan area, the Greenline association announced in a press release.
While this permit, has been seized, the Municipality has continued to cut down trees, it said. The size of collected firewood has been estimated at 300 tons in the last week of November. The Ministry, however, has denied giving any new cutting tree permit to the Municipality.
Greenline called on the concerned officials to seize this work and apply laws.
Away 49 kilometers from Beirut, Kfarselwan is one of the Lebanese villages located in Baabda casa, Mount Lebanon.
